Church Ministries
Christian Life Opportunities
Family Night Meal: This is a Wednesday evening meal
beginning at 6:00 pm with fun and fellowship for our church
family. Meals are provided by various groups in the
church at a minimal cost. Monies collected go to cover the
cost of the meals; any excess goes to the kitchen fund for
updates and repairs. Children, youth and adult studies are
offered after the meal. The evening ends at 7:30 pm.
Golden Nuggets: A monthly gathering of senior adults
for a meal, games and fellowship and scheduled bus trips.
This group witnesses to others the joy of knowing Christ and
the abundant life He provides, no matter what your age.
Bus trips and tours: Our church is blessed to offer day
trips and scheduled tours on our comfortable 32 passenger
bus. Up coming trips are detailed in our publications and on
our bulletin board behind the sanctuary.
United Methodist Men (UMM): A fellowship of Christian men
that gather on the first Sunday of each month for breakfast
in our fellowship hall. Fellowship and devotions are
shared to encourage and strengthen our men in their walk of
faith.
United Methodist Women (UMW): A fellowship of Christian
women made up of four circles. Each circle has their own
scheduled gathering with devotionals and fellowship.
These circles also share in providing meals for the sick and
bereaved along with hosting showers and other celebrations.
United Methodist Youth Fellowship (UMYF): A
fellowship of youth of our congregation as well as youth of
the community that gather for a meal, fellowship, devotion
and sporting activities that our multi-purpose building
provides. There is also involvement in conference
events and sponsored trips along with mission projects. Christian Service Opportunities United Methodist Women (UMW): Our United Methodist Women give multiple opportunities for Christian service whether it be serving at Bladen Crises Thrift Store, their annual prayer breakfast for the community or leading one of the area's largest bazaars that provide funds for missions in excess of $20,000.00. United Methodist Men (UMM) : Our men help with building projects in the community through ministries like Habitat For Humanity and the Wilmington Area Rebuilding Ministry. These men also help with maintenance projects on our church property. United Methodist Youth Fellowship (UMYF): Our youth are involved in service as they collect food for senior citizens and our local crisis center, and raise funds to help support other mission work. Open Arms After School Ministry: This program provides after school transportation to our facility on our 32 passenger bus. Teachers provide a safe, creative and Christian atmosphere. Snacks and oversight on homework assignments is offered followed by a time of recreation. This program also provides a summer session providing the same Christian care in a full day program. Contact our Open Arms Director for opportunities to assist in this ministry. Habitat for Humanity: This ministry assist in providing homes along with other communities of faith in the area. Craftsmanship is provided by many of our church families. Wilmington Area Rebuilding Ministry (W.A.R.M.): This ministry of Craftsmen work on rebuilding projects in our immediate area. These projects are funded by W.A.R.M. and mission funds from our congregation. Dorcas Ministry: A ministry named after our Lord Jesus Christ, who chose to minister by helping others especially as a seamstress. This ministry is not limited to only those who can sew; but also to those who wish to use their hands to help others. Prayer Shaw Ministry: A ministry in which women of our congregation knit/crochet shawls while praying for those within and outside our church. These shawls are a reminder to the recipients, of God's presence and those of faith around them who are praying for God's will in their life. Helping Hands: One may contact the church office and inquire how they may help by volunteering as a nursery worker, teacher, or helper with events like Vacation Bible School.
